STRANGER: Episode 2 of THE TIME PATRIOT series

He came to save the republic he built with his own blood.

George Washington is alive in 2037. The men who want him silenced got there first.

Colonel Marc McKnight and the HERO team pulled the impossible off. They traveled 250 years into the past, found General Washington in the Virginia wilderness, earned his cautious trust under fire, and brought him forward to the present in one piece. Now the harder work begins.

Washington is at Mount Vernon, walking through a house that still bears his name but runs on technology that looks like witchcraft to an eighteenth-century man. He is sharp, skeptical, and forming opinions about the republic that no one on the HERO team can predict. President Harrison needs him to speak to 400 million Americans on the edge of a civil war that could ignite any day. Professor Dandridge has three days to help him understand what the Founders built, what survived, and what did not.

But someone else already knows Washington is in 2037.

The Irish arms dealer who sold stolen time engine blueprints to the Fourth Reich is methodical, technically brilliant, and already in the present. The 1937 Nazi operative network that sent armed soldiers after Washington in the Virginia mountains is still active. And the investigation into how pre-World War II Germany built a working time machine from plans that should never have left a classified American facility is just getting started.

Two parallel investigations. One target. And a man from 1787 standing at the center of it all, reading a constitution he has not yet seen, trying to decide if the republic is worth saving.

Stranger is Episode 2 of The Time Patriot series by Kim Megahee, set in the world of the HERO team adventures. Washington is in the present. The enemy is already here. And the republic that hangs in the balance is the one he built with his own hands.

One visitor from 1787. One nation on the edge. And no margin left for error.

Dear Reader,

Thanks for your interest in learning more about Stranger: Episode 2 of The Time Patriot Adventure series.

Naming this book Stranger was a tip of the hat to Robert Heinlein, the author of the science fiction classic Stranger in a Strange Land.

In the year 2037, Washington would be a stranger in a strange land, even though he was staying at his home at Mount Vernon. Just the basic technology advances would be a huge obstacle, not to mention the political and popular culture of today.

At the end of the previous book, Washington had not yet agreed to help the future President solve problems because he isn’t convinced he can trust him or even McKnight. He only agreed to time jump to 2037 because their lives were in danger.

This episode is mostly about helping Washington get acclimated to the 21st century and relating to the culture. Additionally, several subplots are disclosed which will come to fruition in subsequent books.

During this story, Washington is beginning to see the problems the President has mentioned to him are truly issues and some were clearly outside the bounds envisioned by the Founding Fathers.

This mission is Marc McKnight’s biggest challenge. He must protect Washington and ensure that he returns to 1787 to attend the Constitutional Congress in Philadelphia.

Kim

Overall Assessment

The Time Patriot: Episode 2 – Stranger is a fast-paced time-travel political thriller that successfully blends military procedural elements with alternate-history drama. By transporting George Washington into a near-future America on the brink of civil war, the story creates a compelling fish-out-of-water narrative that serves both as high-stakes adventure and a thoughtful examination of democracy, truth, and leadership. The dual Nazi threats, media frenzy, and tech-leak investigation add layers of conspiracy and urgency, while the central relationship between Washington and Professor Dandridge provides emotional and intellectual grounding. Though some media and conspiracy beats lean on familiar tropes, the core premise of a Founding Father confronting modern political chaos feels fresh and timely. Overall, the book delivers strong genre appeal for readers who enjoy 11/22/63 and The Atlantis Gene, with clear momentum toward a high-tension conclusion in the next episode.
